Lancaster Comics Day Hits the Airwaves

John Freeman will be plugging Lancaster Comics Day (and the Lakes International Comic Art Festival) on this week’s “Friday Night Three” show airing on Beyond Radio (7 – 9.00pm, 103.5FM across Lancaster and Morecambe and also online).

It turns out Friday Night Three’s David Chandler, who interviewed John, apparently in part owes living in Lancaster down to an editorial decision made by him about a letter published in Doctor Who Magazine over 30 years ago, when he was editor. Whether he will reveal the connection between John, DWM and longtime friends on air remains to be heard!

For those of you outside the Lancaster and Morecambe area, the Friday Night Three show is also offered as a Podcast and you can follow them on Twitter @BeyondFriday

Organised by the Friends of Lancaster Library, Lancaster Comics Day takes place on Sunday 13th June at Lancaster Library (tickets on the door £5 adults £2 concessions which includes admission to panels). Guests are artists Richard Piers Rayner (Doctor Who, Hellblazer, Road to Perdition), David Sque (Roy of the Rovers, Preston North End – The Rise of the Invincibles), Nick Brokenshire (Amelia Cole, Once and Future Queen), Tim Perkins (Doctor Who, Worlds End), writer and publisher Tom Ward (Merrick) author and editor Barrie Tomlinson, (Tiger, Roy of the Rovers), publisher Michael Barrett, and fantasy author AS Chambers.

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival will have a major presence at the event and we are delighted to announce that thanks to their help we’ll now be joined on the day by talented artist Marc Jackson, who will be providing workshop activities for younger comic fans.

This is the first of two audio mind probes John is appearing on in coming days to promote the event, as Ian Lomax of the official Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast will also be interviewing him this week.

We don’t have broadcast information for that just yet, so check out their web site or follow them on Facebook or Twitter @comicartfestpod. Recently launched, they’ve already interviewed Festival patrons Sean Phillips and Emma Vieceli, and Comics Laureate and Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard.
